Lakeshore Area Rocketry Society (LARS) currently operates high power launches on a semi-permanent field rotation in the Town of Silica, just east of the City of Fond du Lac, WI. The established launch sites have been due to the local support of the Bertram family which own and manages several thousand acres of farmland. Without the support of the Bertrams, many of the club activities would not be accomplished. LARS is currently working with the FAA on the review and approval of our waivers.
Once waivers are secured, and potential low and high power dates are developed that coincide with our sister regional clubs such as WHOOSH and Tripoli Wisconsin, the information will be published here.
LARS also runs launches that are specifically limited to model and low power (Impulse classes E through I) due to site access and waiver requirements. These launches are typically held in the City of Manitowoc industrial park, The Field of Dreams in City of Sheboygan, and smaller farm fields near Oostburg, WI. These dates are variable given scheduled events (such as soccer, baseball and Mother Nature) and items out of our control such as crop harvesting and planting. Check back frequently for expected dates.
